Position Overview
To assist the Building Consultancy Director in providing a full range of professional Building Surveying services to both internal and external clients.
To assist the Building Consultancy Director in business development and gaining new and maintaining existing instructions.
To assist with the development and training of the graduate building surveyors throughout their APC. To fulfill the Supervisor Role for the Graduates APC training.
The post holder must be experienced in the following areas and be capable of delivering projects from inception through to completion.
- Condition Surveys
- Feasibility Studies
- Planning & Building Regulation Advice and Submissions
- Repair & Maintenance Advice
- Defect Analysis
- Dilapidations (Interim & Terminal)
- Contract Administration
- Design & Specification
- Planned Maintenance Programmes
- Statutory Compliance Inspections & Reports,
To assist the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Pilot as necessary in carrying out aerial inspections.
Specific Job Functions:
Proactively progress your continued professional development including the development of your professional skills in line with industry standards.
Work in a timely, cost-effective and pro-active manner, maintaining a personal caseload and work collaboratively with the Building Surveying Consultancy Director and Graduate Building Surveyor, where required.
Operate in compliance with company procedures, best practices and legislation current at the time.
Carry out any other duties that are required from time to time.
To seek out and attend CPD events relevant to the job role and keep up to date with industry development and changes to legislation informing colleagues of such changes.
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
Minimum Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent qualifications.
Membership of relevant professional institution, e.g. Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Building [MCIOB] or The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Building Surveying) [MRICS].
Experience required in:
- Undertaking condition and defect surveys.
- Project Management and Contract Administration
- Dilapidations including negotiations
- Statutory Compliance Inspections
- Business Development
Skills & Knowledge
A working knowledge of current construction statutory legislation (CDM, Building Regulations, DDA, Building Safety Act, Planning etc.).
Be IT proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams etc.).
Be proficient in AutoCAD.
